The 12th General Meeting on Magnetic Resonance in Medicine of the Chinese Society of Radiology was held from April 13th to April 15th, 2012, in Shaanxi. Altogether more than 1,300 domestic and foreign experts, scholars, research personnel and imaging doctors in the magnetic resonance imaging field attended the meeting, including Chen Lin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Feng Xiaoyuan, chairman of the Chinese Society of Radiology; Vice Chairman Prof. Jin Zhengyu; Professor Teng Gaojun; Professor Xu Ke; and others. Liu Shaoming, head of the Shaanxi Provincial Health Department, attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech. Mr. Fan Daiming, president of the Fourth Military Medical University, Professor Yan Jianqun, vice president of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and many others attended the meeting to give congratulations. The directors and doctors of the MRI centers of Qingdao 401 Hospital, Weihai 404 Hospital, The First Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Zaozhuang Mining Bureau Hospital, Huaibei People’s Hospital, Huoqiu People’s Hospital, and other institutions under CCM’s banner were also in attendance.
The theme of the meeting was “Magnetic Resonance Imaging - Enhancing Clinical Application and Fundamental Research,” with four sessions: a “Graduate Students’ Forum,” “Leading Progress in Magnetic Resonance Imaging,” a “Forum for Imaging Doctors,” and “Image Reading for Difficult Diseases,” as well as a “Forum for Academicians and Chairmen.” The representatives attending the meeting shared the world’s latest cutting-edge advances and academic trends in magnetic resonance imaging technology, and through participation in the image reading of difficult diseases session, participants engaged in broad exchanges and in-depth discussions on the application of MRI clinical standards and current issues in clinical scientific research. The meeting gave consideration to the fundamental research and clinical practice of imaging, the academic atmosphere was strong, and the speeches were engaging and friendly. The number of attending representatives was the largest of all the MRI Meetings of the Chinese Society of Radiology, and the meeting was successful.
